Private investors are a diverse group of institutions – each operating with different mandates, investment criteria, risk-adjusted return targets and regulations. Yet, they are often treated by the development community as one homogeneous group. To mobilize private investment at scale, it is important to identify the unique investment criteria and barriers faced by different private sector investor segments.

The latest report from Convergence and DFID, with input from over 20 leading global private sector investors, reviews the current state of blended finance, and provides an analysis of the investment motivations, requirements, and constraints of five key segments of institutional investors.
